There are three bands that started me on my trajectory of being a hard rock and metal fan. One is Megadeth, one is Three Days Grace (who's vocalist I was lucky enough to interview on Episode 2), and the third is Breaking Benjamin. So imagine my excitement and disbelief at getting to speak with Jasen Rauch, guitarist of Breaking Benjamin AND Red (another seminal band for me growing up). This episode truly feels like a full circle moment for me, and Jasen is a wonderful guest to speak with as we dig into topics like the importance of ritual and devotion, the hypnotic power of a truly great hook, and the role spirituality has played in his life and career through two huge bands. This was a dream come true for me, and I hope those of you, like myself, who's musical life was changed by Breaking Benjamin, get just as much joy out of listening as I did interviewing.
